Martin McGuinness expresses sadness at the death of Brian Friel

Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness has expressed his sadness at the death of playwright Brian Friel, who died today. The Sinn Fein MLA said he learned of “one of our greatest every playwrights” with “great sadness.” He added: “Brian was a quiet, unassuming man who made a huge contribution to the arts and his work had universal appeal.” Mr McGuinness concluded: “I extend my sincere condolences to his wife and children at this difficult time.”
