A man accused of breaching a non-molestation order and harassment told police he did not believe 32 messages and 17 phone calls were 'excessive'.
Kevin Patrick John McGilloway (45) of Crawford Square in Derry admitted the charges that occurred in April 2025.
He also admitted driving offences that occurred on July 11 last year.
The court heard the injured party told police she had received 32 text messages and 17 phone calls from the defendant over a five day period in breach of a court order.
When questioned McGilloway denied his behaviour was harassment and said he didn't feel the number of messages and calls were excessive.
On the driving offences the court heard that police on patrol in Creggan and observed a car being driven 'erratically'.
They stopped the car being driven by the defendant who gave police a false name and then ran off.
McGilloway was later arrested and admitted having no licence.
Defence counsel Sinead Rogan said her client had not been in trouble for some time.
She said there was no domestic history between the pair.
McGilloway was fined £400, disqualified for three months and given a five months sentence suspended for three years.
