A local social enterprise based in prison grounds is offering sustainably grown trees at reduced prices while stocks last.
Magilligan Tree Nursery has announced two special offers and has also explained how each order helps support its prisoner rehabilitation efforts as well as work to help native tree species and the community.
The offers – 10 trees from £8.95 plus one free tree with every ten purchased – are now available. The £8.95 price applies to Rowan, Alder or Birch trees while the free trees can be a choice from Rowan, Alder or Birch and will be applied to every order.
Tree Nursery Co-ordinator Aisling Gribbin said: “Because we’re a sustainable tree nursery based in prison grounds, every order helps the community and environment in some unique ways.
“Orders help prisoner rehabilitation by boosting skills and employment prospects and also help the environment because we only grow native species using peat-free organic methods. This increases local resistance to disease by reducing numbers of imported trees
“Plus, our outreach and education through volunteering and workshops means ordering from us supports the community too.”
Magilligan tree nursery is delivered in partnership with The Northern Ireland Prison Service and can produce a large numbers of native UK and Irish trees every year, meaning enough stock and range to satisfy both bitj bulk orders from businesses and organisations as well supply individual household buyers.
It is operated by Causeway Coast & Glens Heritage Trust, an organisation with almost 25 years of experience delivering protected area management, partnerships and projects designed to support natural, built and cultural heritage.
