A prominent pub in Derry’s city centre has been put up for sale. WG’s Bar (pictured), which occupies number 15 Bishop Street and numbers 1 to 3 on Society Street has been placed on the market for £299,000. The building includes public bar and seating area on the ground floor with a café area, while the first floor has a room which is suitable for functions. The bar is located at the site of WG O’Doherty’s store, which first opened in 1869 as a public house and grocery. The original building was recreated at the Ulster American Folk Park a number of years ago, thanks to the contribution of a young apprentice who worked at the store in the 1930’s. It is the latest bar in the city to be placed on the open market in the past number of years, a number of which have since been purchased and set to re-open.
