Man returned for trial charged with rape of woman in Derry

A 21 years old full time student at the Magee campus of Ulster University has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court charged with raping a woman in the Lawrence Hill area of the city. Christopher Breen, from Derryloiste Road in Derrytrasna in Co. Armagh, is alleged to have raped the 22-years-old woman in the Lawrence Hill area of the city on December, 2017. It was accepted at Derry Magistrates there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. When asked if he had anything to say or if he wished to call any witnesses in reply to the single charge the defendant replied no. He was released on his own bail of £750 to appear before the Crown Court for his arraignment on 30 April 30. As part of his bail conditions Breen must reside at his current home address and he's banned from contacting the complainant and any prosecution witnesses in the case.
