The public are being invited to have their say on an outline planning application for housing, offices, student accommodation, hotels, leisure, shops and bars and restaurants at Fort George.

Last month Communities Minister Gordon Lyons provided notice that he would be tabling an application for a major mixed regeneration development at the former British Army base.

Minister Lyons said it would be up to the market to decide what is ultimately developed on the prime riverside site.

However, potential uses proposed include office, research and development (Class B1), health and life sciences, residential apartments, purpose-built student accommodation, retail (Class A1), hotel, leisure, public realm, active travel uses, cafes, bars and restaurants, community and cultural uses (Class D1) and car parking.

It has now been confirmed that an in-person public consultation event will be held at City Hotel on Thursday, January 22, from 3.00pm to 7.00pm to allow people to find out more about the proposal and provide feedback to the project design team.

The consultation ends on February 19.
