GAA: Former Derry star Muldoon moves into management with Banagher

Enda Muldoon
BANAGHER have confirmed Enda Muldoon and Declan Mullan as their new senior football managers on a joint ticket. Muldoon has been working with various Derry development squads in recent years.  A new direction into management looks to spell an end to a highly decorated playing career which saw him annex eight senior championships with Ballinderry. Muldoon, one of the greatest players of his generation, added two Ulster Club titles and was central in Ballinderry's All-Ireland win in 2002.  In the colours of Derry, Muldoon was an All-Star in 2004 and helped the Oakleafers to NFL success in 2008.  He won Ulster medals at minor, U21 and senior level, also playing on the 1997 All-Ireland U21 winning team. Mullan, a native of Banagher, is a well-respected coach and has worked under Liam Bradley during his term with Antrim.  'Honda', who has a background in strength and conditioning, was coaching Glenullin last season under Bradley's management. In the 2017 season Banagher went through three different management teams and were relegated to intermediate football.  Their third manager Eamon Lynch declined to stay on for next season. The club have recently opened a new strength and conditioning facility at their Fr McNally Park base. Also this week, Glenullin man Michael O'Kane has been appointed as the new manager of Swatragh, replacing Peter McKeever.  O'Kane recently vacated his position as Claudy manager after three seasons, taking them to promotion from the intermediate ranks in his first year. That 2015 success came with a play-off win over Glenullin, but O'Kane had stepped away from team affairs for the crucial decider at Celtic Park - a game that sent the Mitchell's in the opposition direction to division two. O'Kane had previously took charge of his home club, after beginning his management career in Antrim with Portglenone and Tir nA Óg.
