Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Cllr Ruairí McHugh, hosted a special reception for Inner City Assistance Team Volunteers this week to recognise their hard work and dedication.
The event honoured the ongoing efforts of the volunteer team, whose work continues to make a meaningful difference within the local community. The Mayor paid tribute to the team’s tireless service, highlighting the positive impact their support and outreach initiatives have had across the inner city.
“I am proud to recognise the outstanding work of the Inner City Assistance Team volunteers. Under Stephen’s leadership, they continue to demonstrate what community spirit truly means - offering practical support, kindness and hope where it is needed most. We are deeply fortunate to have volunteers who give so generously of their time and energy to support others,” said Mayor McHugh.
During the reception, Mayor McHugh presented Stephen Henry, Co-ordinator of the Inner City Assistance Team, with a token of appreciation in recognition of his leadership and the commitment of the volunteer group. Mr Henry was joined by his wife, Arlene, along with fellow volunteers and invited guests for the occasion.
