Irish actors Andrew Scott and Colin Farrell both received nominations for best actor in a TV show for their shows Ripley and The Penguin as the 2025 Golden Globe nominations were announced in the US on Monday.

Both Paul Mescal and Saoirse Ronan fell short of receiving a nomination, with Mescal missing out for his role in Gladiator II and Ronan missing out for her turn in The Outrun and Blitz.

Nicola Coughlan also missed out on a nomination for her performance in the Netflix series Bridgerton and there were no nominations either for Small Things Like These starring Cillian Murphy and Eileen Walsh.

Irish film Kneecap was also not among the nominees for best non-English language film despite the film winning in seven categories including best independent film, at the British Independent Film Awards over the weekend.
