A man who was reported to police for a suspected drink driving by staff at a Derry hotel will be sentenced in March.
Jason Doherty (37) of Ramore Gardens in Derry appeared charged with failing to give a sample of breath and no insurance on November 14 last year.
The court heard that staff at Da Vinci's contacted police to report an suspected drunk driver trying to drive.
By the time police arrived thecar had driven away so police attended the address of the last registered driver, Doherty.
They approached Doherty in the vehicle and could smell alcohol but the defendant failed to give a breath sample.
It was also discovered that Doherty had no insurance for the vehicle.
Doherty was asked for a breath sample on several occasions but failed to give any.
He told police he thought he was covered by insurance but said that as regards the drink driving he had been drinking zero Guinness but then had three pints before driving.

Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said that due to his record Doherty was facing a three year disqualification.
The case was adjourned until March 20 to allow a pre-sentence report to be prepared and Doherty was disqualified from driving from today.
