Derry Magistrate's Court
A woman has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court charged with breaching her bail by not being at her address for three days after she claimed she was assaulted by her brother.
Katy Bowers (37) of Heron Way in Derry appeared for breaching her bail by not being at her address from December 19 until her arrest on December 22.
A police officer told the court that police called to the address and the defendant's brother told them that Bowers wasn't there.
It was discovered that Bowers had returned to her home address because she said she had been assaulted by her brother and police objected to that address on the grounds that it was too close to where the original offences were said to have occurred.
Defence counsel Stephen Chapman said in that case perhaps Bowers could be re-released on bail to an address approved by the PSNI.
This was agreed and Bowers was granted bail to an address approved by the PSNI and will appear again on January 19.
