Derry Court
A woman has been given a suspended sentence at Derry Magistrate's Court today for several charges including a criminal damage to a city centre business premises.
Theresa Reynolds (37) originally from Dublin but currently of no fixed abode was charged with criminal damage to a door at the Maiden Heaven premises in Waterloo Place on December 14.
She was also charged with two charges of theft from business premises in Fermanagh on December 1 and December 4.
The court heard that city centre CCTV operators alerted police to an woman kicking a door at the business premises causing £200 worth of damage before walking off.
Police detained Reynolds and at interview she identified herself on CCTV and said she had too much to drink and was on medication.
The defendant was also identified in two thefts from shops in Fermanagh in one case food items and alcohol in the other.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that the defendant was estranged from her family but had no record in the North or South.
He said she had dealt with the case in a 'straightforward manner'.
District Judge Conor Heaney said that the court was concerned with three offences in quick succession.
He imposed a sentence of two months suspended for 12 months and ordered Reynolds to pay almost £250 in compensation.
