A Donegal man has been found guilty of a charge of causing death by dangerous driving at Derry Crown Court.
Shane Declan Gallagher (30) from the townland of Rossbracken near the village of Manorcunningham had pleaded not guilty to causing the death of forty-five years old motorcyclist Gordon Curry by driving dangerously in the early hours of February 22, 2021.
He did however plead guilty to causing Mr. Curry's death by careless driving.
The accident occurred close to Altnagelvin Hospital as a minibus driven by Gallagher collided with Mr Curry's motorcycle at traffic lights.
After a trial the jury by a majority verdict found Gallagher guilty of causing death by dangerous driving.
A pre-sentence report was requested and Gallagher will be sentenced early in the new year.
