Irish Jetski Club festive Foyle Search and Rescue fundraiser.
If there’s one person who didn’t come up the Foyle in a bubble it’s Santa Claus. He is coming up on a jetski instead.
Every year a group of jetskiers from the Irish Jetski Club do a festive run up the Foyle to raise money for Foyle Search and Rescue. Everyone involved dresses up, decorates their jetskis, and braves the cold weather to bring another bit of festive cheer to the city.
Event organiser, Ken Finley contacted The Derry News to say the festive Foyle jetski was taking place on Sunday, December 14.
“At about 11.30am we will head off down along the riverfront, under the three bridges, to Culmore Point and back,” he added.
“Everyone is welcome to come out and give us a wave.
“It would also be very much appreciated if people could donate to our gofundme online fundraiser: 2025 Irish Jetski Santa run on the Foyle (https://gofund.me/fae6d0ca1. 100% of all funds raised go straight to Foyle Search and Rescue,” said Ken.
Foyle Search and Rescue: Foyle Search was set up in 1993 preventing suicide and supporting families in the City.
Its volunteers patrol the river on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, from 9.30pm to 3.00am, engaging with people in distress, maintaining lifebelts and saving lives.
Foyle Search and Rescue has an Emergency Response Pager Team, who are on call 24/7 365 days a year, for emergencies outside of patrol times.
This team also acts as a body recovery team who search for any person missing in the river and recover the body with the greatest dignity.
