Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, Councillor Ruairí McHugh, hosted the first of his Christmas Tea Dances at the Guildhall this week. Mayor McHugh was joined by Santa Claus and members of a number of community organisations including local social inclusion group Destined for the popular event.
“I had a ball at my first Christmas Tea Dance,” said Mayor McHugh. “It was heart warming to see so many people enjoying the craic and get into the spirit of Christmas with festive music and refreshments. The Tea Dances are always a great chance to connect with the public and get a chat about the things that are important to you.
“Thanks to everyone who has attended this year and to the wonderful local bands who have provided the musical accompaniment.”
Next week the Tea Dance moves to St Patrick’s Hall in Strabane for a sold out event.
