IN PICTURES: Derry players named among award winners at Ulster schools’ All-star awards

Six Oakleaf players recognised for stellar school and club campaigns during a high-profile night in Toomebridge

Half a dozen Derry players are among the 24 picking up Ulster schools’ All-star awards at a Gala Dinner in the Elk Restaurant in Toomebridge on Thursday evening.

Four of the players in the list represented St Patrick’s Maghera in the Corn Uladh final against Cross & Passion Maghera back in January.

Lucy McKaigue and Aoibh Mulholland won Derry senior championship medals in 2025 with Sleacht Néill while Brannagh Brolly collected an Intermediate title with Dungiven who progressed to an Ulster final showdown with Brídíní Óga Glenravel. The Antrim champions went on to collect their second All-Ireland title in three years.

The fourth Maghera recipient was Ellie Griffin, who has represented Bellaghy at senior level.

There was a third Sleacht Néill player in the mix is Niamh Nig Uiginn, who picked up her second All-star. Niamh represented Gaelcholáiste Dhoire in this year’s Senior Medallion Shield final in January. Gaelcholáiste lost narrowly to St Dominic’s Belfast who had two players in the team.

The sixth Derry player is Brónagh Bradley from St Mary’s Magherafelt, while St Conor’s, beaten Fr Davies Cup finalists, had Jojo Darragh in the panel. Jojo plays her club camogie with Portglenone and has represented Antrim at under age level. The guest speaker at the awards ceremony was Down senior player Dearbhla Magee, a schools’ All-star back in 2016, and currently a teacher and camogie coach in Lecale Trinity in Downpatrick.
