IN PICTURES: Deputy Mayor makes presentation to Major Scott Rutherford

A reception was held in Derry's Guildhall to mark his retirement from the 1st Battalion Northern Ireland Army Cadet Force after distinguished service

The Deputy Mayor, Alderman Niree McMorris, pictured making a special presentation to Major David Rutherford at the Guildhall on Wednesday evening in recognition of his distinguished service upon his retirement from the 1st Battalion Northern Ireland Army Cadet Force. On the right is David's wife Linda.

Taking the opportunity to thank Major Rutherford, Ald McMorris said: “This week it’s timely to pay tribute to our servicemen and women across the world who work so hard to serve and protect us.

“I want to thank Major Rutherford for his dedication and commitment throughout his career to developing and inspiring young people through the Cadet movement which has left such a lasting legacy in our community. I want to extend my best wishes as he embarks on his well-earned retirement.”
