Tyrone champions Pomeroy have comprehensively beaten Donaghmoyne of Monaghan 2-16 to 0-10 in the AIB Ulster Club Intermediate Football Championship Final in Newry. This means a double for Tyrone as Rock had earlier won the junior title. After a delayed start - due to the junior game going to extra-time - Pomeroy moved into an early 0-4 to 0-2 lead after 12 minutes. A goal from Chris Colhoun then put them firmly in the driving seat as they led 1-4 to 0-3 after 16 minutes but at the interval the margin was just three points, 1-5 to 0-5. Pomeroy were rampant in the second half and Donaghmoyne goalkeeper Shane Garland made a number of important saves but a second goal from Frank Burns sealed the outcome. In the end, Pomeroy were comfortable winners. Pomeroy edged out the Derry champions St. Malachy's Castledawson in the semi-finals while Donaghamoyne had overcome Bredagh of Co. Down in the quarter-finals, the conquerors of Donegal champions Downings, in a preliminary round game.
