GAA: A late Ryan McElwee point secures victory for Bellaghy against Loup

Bellaghy senior footballers maintained their winning run with a one point victory over Loup on Thursday night in the Mid Season League. Loup were 0-4 to 0-1 up after 13 minutes, with Declan McVey, Gavin Mallon and Ciaran Devlin all on target. Eventually the Tones worked themselves back into the game. Conor Quinn, Frankie Donnelly and Ruairi McElwee notched points before Bellaghy levelled the game 1-3 to 0-6 by half-time courtesy of a Paul Cassidy goal. The second-half was point for point, with Declan McVey putting Loup ahead going into the closing stages. Damon Gallagher hit a late free before Ryan McElwee popped up with the winner. In the Neal Carlin Cup, Ardmore had their first win of the season (2-14 to 1-15) over Moneymore, despite being reduced to 14 players after 15 minutes. Ogra Colmcille have recently appointed Paddy Linden and Paddy O'Brien as their new management team. Belfast native Linden is on the Ulster Schools committee and had a previous spell with Castledawson. O'Brien is from Loughmacrory and was a top referee in Tyrone. Ballinascreen have yet to appoint a successor to manager Barry Dillon, the club has confirmed. Benny Heron has been taking training sessions in the meantime with Philip Bradley taking charge on matchdays. 'Screen travel to Newbridge (8.15) on Friday night in the the league cup. The other Friday night game is Dungiven's trip to Coleraine (7.30). Full league roundups in Tuesday's County Derry Post.
