Immense sadness at death of young teenager Kaitlyn Glackin

There is a great sense of grief and despair following the death of a young teenage girl who bravely battled an illness for much of her young life.

Kaitlyn Louise Glackin from Donegal has passed away at the age of 15, peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 4 surrounded by her loving family. Her untimely death follows a long illness which she fought with great courage.

She is mourned by her beloved family, including her devoted father Aidan; her sisters Clodagh and Niamh; her brother Tiernan; her cherished grandparents Gerard and Evelyn; her aunt Colette and partner Terence; her extended family circle, neighbours and friends.

Kaitlyn’s funeral Mass will take place today in St Agatha’s Church, Clar, on Friday at 2pm followed by burial in the adjoining graveyard.

Family flowers only; donations in Kaitlyn’s memory if so desired to Barretstown Children’s Charity care of George Irwin Funeral Directors or any family member.

Kaitlyn’s Mum Sarah Louise said: “It is with the heaviest and most broken heart that I share the passing of my beautiful daughter Kaitlyn who left this world on March 4, 2026.

“She was just 15 years of age.
