The decision to allow two paedophile brothers to live next to a Derry school is to be raised at the Stormont Assembly.

James and Owen Roe McDermott (pictured above) have been residing in a house specially adapted for them by the Western Health Trust next to Oakgrove Integrated College at Gransha on the outskirts of the city for the past four years.

DUP MLA Maurice Morrow is now demanding answers from Justice Minister David Ford as to who made the decision to allow the pair to reside so close to the school.

Lord Morrow has tabled a written question to Justice Minister David Ford to explain the decision, according to the Belfast Telegraph.

The McDermotts - James (63) and younger brother Owen Roe (55) - walked free from court in 2010 after it was determined they were mentally unfit to stand trial on 19 counts of sex abuse on children in the village of Donagh in Fermanagh

An older brother, Peter Paul, took his own life the day after he appeared in court on multiple paedophile charges.

A fourth brother, John (65), was jailed for 10 years for abusing nine children.

The McDermotts are believed to have sexually assaulted as many as 50 children in Donagh from 1969 until 2002.

Following their court hearing, James and Owen Roe McDermott were moved to Lakeview Hospital, also at Gransha,  as voluntary patients, before being moved into their current accommodation.

The Western Heat Trust has said it could not comment on individual cases.
