Derry launch for new hunger strike book

A new book about the events leading up to the 1981 hunger strike will be launched in Derry tonight. “Reflections of the Prison Struggle – 1976-1981” features contributions from former prisoners, their families and republican activists at the time. Ten republican prisoners died during the hunger strike, widely regarded as one of the most turbulent periods in modern Irish history. The new book tells the story of some of those heavily involved in the events of this time. The foreword has been written by Foyle Sinn Fein MLA Raymond McCartney.
