A new supported housing facility has opened within Gransha Park in Derry. The Western Trust in collaboration with Apex Housing Association have handed over the keys to 16 new self-contained flats for service users and their families at Holly Lane. The accommodation consists of 16 self-contained single flats each with a bedroom, living room/kitchen, toilet and shower, maximizing privacy and dignity for users. The complex also boasts a communal area as a shared space with an attached quiet room promoting social integration and encouraging a sense of community. George Walker, Holly Lane manager said each tenant would be able to individually furnish their accommodation and for some it would be the first time they have had their own address. He added: “Holly Lane aims to offer an enhanced quality of life, where clients can enjoy both their independence and on-site support from suitably qualified, experienced and skilled Western Trust staff on a 24 hour basis.” Photo shows George Walker, Holly Lane manager, presenting Katty Devlin with the keys to her new home.
