Granny Annies threatens English bar with legal action over similar name and decor

The Granny Annies group has said it will take legal action if an English bar does not change its name. A bar called 'Grannie Annie's' has opened in Sunderland in the North of England. The bar opened last week and incorporates the same style as local Granny Annie's bars and has a similar logo. There is currently a Granny Annie's in Derry, Limavady and Belfast. The company also own five other bars under different names. The company purchased five Wetherspoon's bars including Derry's The Diamond and Ice Wharf last year. It is owned by Limavady based brothers Willis and Ryan McLaughlin.
