Nonna’s Wood Fired Pizza’s is set to begin redeveloping the former Shipquay Books and News site on Shipquay Street, pictured above. They hope to breathe new life into the building that has lay vacant since August 2014. Nonna’s owners Darren and Ryan Bradley, hope to build on the success of Nonna’s in the Waterside, by bringing the brand into the city centre. Guests of the new sister restaurant in Shipquay Street can look forward to the same standard of excellent food, made using only the freshest and best ingredients. The menu, like Nonnas, will feature a collection of traditional Italian pizzas as well as Irish favourites and a range of scrumptious desserts. Darren Bradley, has said of the new venture, “We are going onto Shipquay street and exciting time, we have noticed there has been an influx of independent, Local businesses investing in the City, inside the Walls – and we are excited to be a part of the regeneration of the most Iconic street in Derry.” Ryan Bradley, added “It would be great to see Shipquay street, return to the buzz and vibrancy of its heyday of the eighties and nineties, thriving, with Local retailers and restaurant owners seeing the benefits. We hope to contribute to that, with our offering of a family friendly casual dining experience.” It is anticipated that work will be complete and the opening of the new restaurant will be in June 2018, it is also hoped that it will create up to 10 new jobs, a mixture of both part time and full time.
