The SDLP councillor John Boyle is to be the next Mayor of Derry and Strabane. Cllr Boyle, who is currently the Deputy Mayor of Derry City and Strabane District Council, received a majority vote from party delegates at a selection event held in Harbour House in the city this evening. Delegates had been asked to cast their vote for either Cllr Boyle or his party colleague, Cllr Shauna Cusack.
