BREAKING: Derry man arrested in bingo hall toilets due to appear in court tomorrow

An alleged thief has been caught after being chased into a city-centre bingo hall where he was locked in a toilet until police arrived, it has emerged. Police confirmed that around 10pm last night the individual was pursued after allegedly stealing items nearby. Bemused onlookers said the suspect was chased into Star Bingo at Bank Place in the city centre where he was locked in a toilet until police arrived on the scene. The matter is currently being investigated by the PSNI and a 24-year-old male will appear at Derry Magistrate’s Court tomorrow morning. A PSNI spokesperson confirmed: “A 24-year-old man has been charged with theft and assault on police. “He is due to appear at Derry Magistrates Court tomorrow (Wednesday 20th February). As is normal procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the PPS. “The charges are in relation to a report of theft at the Bank Place area of the city last night (Monday 18th February)."
