A Dungiven butcher has been named Overall Supreme Champion in the Scobie & Junor Northern Ireland annual sausage competition.
Gregory McGlinchey, a butcher at McNicholl’s Eurospar in Dungiven, was awarded the major accolades at a ceremony held recently.
It was the north Derry store’s honeysuckle pork sausages that saw Gregory scoop the Best Speciality award.
He also walked away with the overall award of County Champion.
Entries were received from across Northern Ireland and judged through a blind tasting process, highlighting the exceptional skill and craftsmanship within the local butchery trade.
Awards were presented for Best Butcher’s Apprentice, County Champions, and the overall Supreme Champion.

Two other butchers from County Derry were also awarded in various different categories.
Nigel Faulkner, of Longs Butchers in Derry picked up the award for Best Beef while Jack McFall from Crawfords in Maghera received the award for Best Pork.

All entries were of an extremely high standard, and Scobie & Junor would like to congratulate all participants.
As part of their continued commitment to supporting the community, all proceeds from entry fees and raffle tickets (£2,675) were donated to the Air Ambulance Northern Ireland.
