No fewer than six of the players who featured in a superb Corn Eimhear final in Bellaghy back in November have been chosen in the fifth McKeever Sports Queen’s University Future Stars camogie team that collected their awards on Wednesday night at a gala dinner in the Whitla Hall in Queen’s.
There are four awards for St Patrick’s Maghera who won a fourth successive Corn Eimhear crown curtesy of a point from a long distance free in added time. Three of the awards go to Maghera defenders, Annie Bradley, Brianna Donaghy and Charlotte O’Hagan while forward Clodagh McIlvar was the team captain and scorer of three points.
In that final St Patrick’s overcame their neighbours St Mary’s Magherafelt who have Kate McErlean and Eva Forbes in the Future Stars team. Both were on the St Mary’s team that captured the All-Ireland Sevens title and Corn Purcell a month earlier. Forbes also captained the Derry side that won the Ulster under 16 title on Easter weekend.
Also included is Feina Kerr who was a star for St Conor’s before Christmas when they reached the Fr Davies Cup final for the first time. She also featured strongly for Derry in the recent provincial success.
Ballinderry’s Emma McVey is the only Derry player included in the Ladies Football Future Stars team that is dominated by Armagh and Tyrone players. Emma is a student in St Mary’s Magherafelt as is Rónán Colgan who has slotted in at midfield in the hurling team.

There are two other players from Derry clubs in that hurling side – both students in Gaelcholáiste Dhoire. They are Seán Mac Con Midhe in defence and Kian Ó Ceallaigh up front.
Aidan O’Rourke, Performance Sport manager with Queen’s, congratulated all the players who had made it through to the various Future Stars final teams.

Gaelcholáiste Dhoire pupils Seán Mac Con Midhe and Kian Ó Ceallaigh.
“We at Queen's are delighted to continue to support and celebrate the work carried out within Ulster Schools for the promotion of all codes of Gaelic games. The level of skill and commitment shown by all those who took part in the trials is a tribute to the work being done right across the province and the final 15 have really earned their jersey."
“There were outstanding candidates all over the field, especially in the final trial and there was plenty of evidence on show that Ulster Schools’ Gaelic games across the codes is in a very strong place in 2026.”
