Officers attended the Epworth Street area at approximately 5am this morning, Saturday 7th March, after it was reported a man was breaking into and damaging vehicles.

“The suspect was located a short distance away by officers inside a vehicle that did not belong to him.

“He was arrested on suspicion of a number of offences including theft, vehicle tampering, vehicle interference and criminal damage, and remains in custody at this time as our enquiries continue.”

“Thanks to the local community for promptly reporting this incident, our officers were able to act quickly and arrest this individual – we are grateful to them for their support with this matter.

“Anyone with information that could assist our investigation or noticed suspicious behaviour in the area is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 233 07/03/26.
