Antisocial activity at Derry's Craigavon Bridge improvement works slammed

NI Water’s £2.5 million programme to safeguard Derry city’s water supply for the next 25 years is progressing well at the Craigavon Bridge. However, the project team has recently witnessed incidents of antisocial behaviour at the site and is appealing to the public to support their safety message.

Anna Delargy, NI Water Project Manager, said: “We are asking the public to help us keep the local community and our teams safe while working on the bridge. It has recently come to our attention that anti-social activity is taking place on the bridge, which could potentially damage our safety hoarding and barge while construction is underway.

"This may appear to some as harmless fun, but it is dangerous, puts our teams at risk, and slows progress on this essential water infrastructure improvement scheme.”

“The safety of the public and our workers is our top priority and we hope that we can work together with the local community to stop any incidents at the bridge, allowing us to progress the scheme efficiently and safely.”

This major investment will strengthen the resilience of the water network and enhance the security of supply for local households and businesses.
