The Western Health and Social Care Trust (Western Trust) Adult Mental Health and Carers Support Services will be hosting a dedicated information and support event for anyone in the Derry area providing care or support to an adult living with mental illness.

The event will take place at the Foyle Arena on Thursday, April 23 2026, from 2.00pm to 4.00pm.

Roger Johnston, Service Manager Supported Living/Professional Social Worker (interim) in the Adult Mental Health Team explained: “We wanted to take the opportunity to reach out to anyone who is supporting an adult with a mental illness.  Many families tell us that they want information on how to support their loved one.

"We have invited a variety of organizations to come along and host a stand to provide you with information about supports available in your area.

Brian Toner, Service User Consultant for Adult Mental Health Services added. “It is important that you, as a family member, feel supported both physically and mentally.  A pharmacist/healthcare provider will be providing free health checks for those attending on the day. Staff from the Mental Health Team within the Western Trust will also be available to talk about how to access services for your loved one.

“There is no need to book, this is an informal event where people are encouraged to drop in any time during the session, have a cup of tea/coffee and avail of the information available.  Everyone is welcome.”

The event will take place at the Foyle Arena on Thursday, April 23 2026, from 2.00pm to 4.00pm.

Others events are scheduled to take place this month at Omagh Leisure Centre on Tuesday, March 24 from 11.00am to 1.00pm and Fermanagh House on Tuesday, March 31 2026 from 11.00am to 1.00pm.
