Derry Magistrate's Court
A man who assaulted two members of staff in a Chinese takeaway has been placed on probation at Derry Magistrate's Court.
Stephen Rigby (37) of Dunvale Close in a Derry admitted two charges of assault on the staff members that occurred on September 23 last.
The court heard that Rigby had entered the takeaway and asked for food he claimed he had ordered but hadn't.
When a female member of staff was bringing an order to a delivery driver Rigby pulled the food from her hand and then assaulted her.
When another female staff member came to her assistance Rigby kicked her in the stomach and she required hospital assistance.

In a pre-sentence report Rigby said he must have been 'provoked' .
He denied being a racist and said he was 'disgusted' with himself.
Rigby said he had cried while in police custody.
He was sentenced to 12 months probation.
