Man to appear in Derry court charged with kidnapping

The man, aged 31, has been charged with a number of offences including kidnap, false imprisonment, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, burglary and theft

Detectives at Strand Road investigating a report of a kidnapping in the Northland Terrace area of Derry on October 1, 2025 have charged a man to court.

The man, aged 31, has been charged with a number of offences including kidnap, false imprisonment, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, burglary and theft.

He is expected to appear before Derry Magistrates' Court on Friday, February 27.

As is usual procedure, all charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
