Two men arrested and drugs seized in Derry

Both men will appear at Derry Magistrates' Court

Waterside District Support Team officers have made an arrest following the stopping of a vehicle in Derry yesterday, Wednesday, February 11.
Chief Inspector Pearce said: “At approximately 4.15pm, officers on proactive patrol stopped a vehicle in the Groarty Road area.
“The driver, a man in his 20s, was found to be in possession of a quantity of cannabis and was subsequently arrested.
“He has since been charged with possession of a class B controlled drug and obstructing police and is expected to appear before Londonderry Magistrates' Court today, Thursday, February 12.
“Whilst officers were dealing with this incident, another vehicle was observed to be reversing further up the road due to police presence.
“The vehicle was stopped, and the male arrested for a number of offences.
“The driver, aged in his 30s, was taken to custody where he was charged with possession of a class A controlled drug and a number of driving offences including taking a motor vehicle without authority and driving without due care and attention.
"He is expected to appear before Londonderry Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, March 4.
“As is usual procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service."
