Derry duo face trial over international drug importation charges

A man and a woman have been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a number of drug charges following a Preliminary Enquiry at Derry Magistrate's Court.

The man who had previously been granted anonymity was charged with, on November 25 2023, being concerned in fraudulent evasion or attempted evasion on import of Class B drugs and being in possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply.

He was also charged with possession of Class B on March 19 2023 and, on May 10 2023, being concerned in making an offer to supply Class A and B drugs and possession of criminal property, namely cash.

As well as these, he was charged with, on July 22 2023 and January 3 2024, being concerned in the offer to supply Class B drugs.

The woman who was also granted anonymity was charged with being concerned in fraudulent evasion or attempted evasion on import of Class B drugs and attempted possession of Class B drugs with intent to supply.

She was also charged with, on March 19 2023 producing Class B drugs, possession of Class B drugs and possession with intent to supply.

It was accepted that there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

Neither chose to submit any statements or to call any witnesses.

They were returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on March 12.
