A man has appeared at Derry Magistrate's Court charged with obstructing a fire and rescue officer and indecent behavior.

Paul McIntyre (46) of Ardnamoyle Park in Derry was charged with the incident that occurred on October 21 last year when he was said to have threatened to shoot fire personnel.

He then absconded but was later found and arrested by police.

Defence solicitor Kevin Casey called this an 'unfortunate incident' but added that McIntyre was 'very drunk' on the night it happened.

He said that McIntyre had spent six weeks in custody following his arrest and had been 'basically estranged' from his family at the time.
