Derry man charged with criminal damage and breaching his bail conditions

A man has appeared at Derry Magistrates' Court charged with criminal damage and breaching his bail conditions.

Declan Grimes (35) of Campion Court in Derry was charged with, on January 26, damaging a wall belonging to Gallagher's Travel.

He had previously been on bail with conditions that he not be intoxicated in public and that he not be near Gallagher's Travel.

A defence solicitor said that Grimes 'doesn't really cause harm to anyone other than himself', adding that the bulk of his previous convictions were alcohol related.

Earlier this month he had been given a three month suspended sentence and District Judge Ted Magill ordered a pre sentence report, releasing him on bail.
