As part of Catholic Schools Week, Holy Child PS welcomed two visitors from the Council for Catholic Maintained Schools’ officials last Wednesday - Mr Eamon Broderick, CEO and Mr Michael Keenan, Director of Education.
The Creggan school was celebrating ‘Grandparents to School’ Day and there was a buzz with pupils and grandparents taking part in numerous festivities including Mass at St. Mary’s Church.
Both gentlemen were given a tour of the school, met with pupils and grandparents as well as taking time to talk to staff as they made their rounds.
Delighted to have the opportunity to not only see the many activities going on, Mrs. Pat Concannon, Principal, said it gave her an opportunity to showcase the school.
‘It was a wonderful opportunity to invite both gentlemen to take part in and experience our Grandparents’ Day events, and to show them around our school community.

Mrs. Concannon added: ‘It was a privilege to welcome both gentlemen to our school and to showcase the fantastic work that goes on here every day to support our pupils and families.
Eamon Broderick, Chief Executive, CCMS commenting on his visit to the Creggan school replied: ‘I am delighted to have had the opportunity to visit Holy Child PS during Catholic Schools Week. It was a pleasure to meet the children, the staff, and the leadership team and to see firsthand the fantastic plans for the school extension.
‘The newly opened Nurture Nest is a real asset to the school, and I have no doubt that the children at Holy Child PS will benefit enormously from this dedicated space, designed to support their learning.’
