Man charged with burglary and theft of charity boxes returned for trial
John Paul Barrett (42) of Northland Road in Derry was charged with entering the Sackville bakery on September 16, 2021 and stealing charity boxes. He was also charged with criminal damage to items in the bakery on the same date

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court charged with burglary of a premises and the theft of charity boxes.
John Paul Barrett (42) of Northland Road in Derry appeared at a Preliminary Enquiry at the local Magistrates' Court today.
He was charged with entering the Sackville bakery on September 16, 2021 and stealing charity boxes.
He was also charged with criminal damage to items in the bakery on the same date.
It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.
Barrett said he did not want to call any witnesses or make any statement at this time.
He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on February 17 and remanded in continuing custody.
