44-year-old man released on bail after arrest in Derry paramilitary crime probe

A 44-year-old man arrested in Derry on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm during a planned arrest and search operation on Thursday, January 15, has been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.

The man was arrested as part of an investigation into a serious assault on a man in the city on Friday, August 29, 2025.

Thursday's operation, which is linked to INLA criminality, was conducted and supported by colleagues from Derry City & Strabane local district officers, colleagues from the Paramilitary Crime Task Force and Maydown Tactical Support Group. 

The investigation continues.
