Police in Derry investigating two incidents reported to have occurred in the city this week, which they believe may be linked at this time, have arrested a 35-year-old man.
The man was arrested today on suspicion of indecent exposure and he remains in custody at this time.
Police are appealing for witnesses and information in relation to both incidents.
The first incident was a report on Tuesday, January 13 that a man indecently exposed himself in the Culmore Road area of the city, at approximately 3.30-3.40pm in the vicinity of a school. The suspect in this incident is described as a black male, approximately six foot tall and wore a blue coat, blue chino-type trousers, dark-coloured shoes, had a tight short haircut and with an athletic build, and aged between 30 and 40 years old.
The second incident was reported at 1.40am today, Wednesday, January 14. A woman is reported to have been followed by a man she didn't know while walking on Great James Street approximately 20 minutes earlier. This male is described as having a dark skin tone, wore a black top and grey bottoms and followed the woman, walking a distance behind her. The woman was able to make her way to safety, but has been left distressed by the incident.
Police patrols were conducted within the Great James Street area and nearby streets, however, there was no further sightings of this male.
Inspector Robb said: “We take reports of this nature incredibly seriously and officers will be on patrol to provide reassurance. We urge anyone with information to please report it to us so we can investigate fully.”
In relation to the Culmore Road incident, the area would have been busy given the time of day and police appeal to witnesses or anyone out walking, or travelling through the area and who may have relevant dash cam footage, to contact them on 101, quoting reference 1171 of 13/01/26.

In relation to the Great James Street incident, police would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who saw a man matching the description in the vicinity around this time this morning.
