A case that was due for arraignment at Derry Crown Court had to be adjourned due to ongoing industrial action by barristers.

Diarmuid Hutton (48) of Caw Hill Park in Derry is charged with inflicting grievious bodily harm on a man on November 30 2024.

He was due to be arraigned today in front of Judge Roseanne McCormick KC in the Crown Court

However, his solicitor, Jack Quigley, told the court that the arraignment could not go ahead as it had 'fallen foul of the ongoing industrial action' by barristers who are refusing to accept new cases.

Mr Quigley said this was the first case he had had affected by the action and asked that the case be adjourned into the New Year to see if the industrial action can be resolved.

This was agreed and the case was adjourned until January 15.
