Derry man returned for trial on domestic abuse offences

A man has been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on a series of domestic abuse offences. 

Peter Lunga (51) of Magowan Park in Derry appeared at a Preliminary Enquiry at Derry Magistrate's Court today. 

He was charged with falsely imprisoning a female on February 22 2025.

He was also charged with non fatal strangulation of the same female and assault occasioning her actual bodily harm on the same date.

It was accepted there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions.

Lunga did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. 

He was returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on January 7 and remanded in continuing custody.
