Derry pair face Crown Court trial on multiple drug and criminal property charges

Two men have been returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on drug charges.

Michael Joseph Cassidy (35) of Grianan Park and Joseph McCallion (30) of Glenowen Park both in Derry appeared at a Preliminary Enquiry at the local Magistrate's Court today. 

They were both charged with possessing class A drugs on July 10 2024.

Cassidy was further charged with possessing class A drugs with intent to supply, possessing class B drugs and possessing criminal property namely cash on the same date.

McCallion faced another charge of possessing a Taser again on July 10 last year.

It was accepted that there was a case to answer and there were no contrary submissions. 

Neither defendant wished to call any witnesses or make any statement at this stage. 

They were both returned for trial to Derry Crown Court on January 7 with McCallion in custody and Cassidy on bail.
