Police were initially called by a neighbor who said that Deery had been shouting at them from across the street, leaving them in fear based on prior interactions.

Derry was also said to have challenged the injured party to a fight while holding a fork and in another incident pulling down his trousers and exposing himself.

When police arrived, he pushed an officer leading to damage to the officer's body worn camera.

Defence Barrister Michael Donaghey said that Deery suffers from delusional disorder but was now taking medication for his condition.

He added that Deery had apologised for the offences and pleaded guilty after hearing the charges he faced.
