Police in Derry arrested a woman following a report of theft in the city centre on Saturday, November 22.
Inspector Hewat said: "Officers responded to a call that a woman had stolen a number of items from a store, making off without any attempt to pay. Officers subsequently located the suspect and, she was arrested on suspicion of theft, and released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.
“Following a search of a property as part of enquiries, officers recovered a number of suspected stolen items. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Inspector Hewat added: "The impact of business crime is significant for business owners and retailers, their staff and the wider community. To help reduce this type of crime, by working with partners and the local business owners and retailers, we encourage anyone who sees this happening to report it, and make our city and town centres places where business crime will not be tolerated.
"Our officers, across the city and District, will continue to focus their efforts on disrupting repeat shoplifting offenders and provide support to the business community.”
