Derry Magistrate's Court
A man who was charged with having class B drugs that were found in the rear of a police vehicle has denied that the drugs were his.
Caiden Robinson (18) of Beraghvale in Derry appeared charged with breaching his bail and possessing class B drugs on November 19.
The court heard that police stopped a vehicle in which Robinson was a passenger and two vials of drug oil were allegedly found in the vehicle.
Robinson initially gave false details to police but was recognised and was arrested for breaching his bail conditions that he was not to travel in a private vehicle.
An officer said Robinson was handcuffed and placed in the rear of a police vehicle and when he was taken out later two vials of similar oil were found in the rear.
The court heard that bail was opposed as the defendant was already on bail for 19 driving related charges and in another case seven charges including drug offences.
He also had 22 previous convictions and the court heard he had breached his bail conditions.
Defence counsel Stephen Chapman said Robinson accepted he was in a vehicle when he should not have been but he added the defendant had been on bail without incident previously.
Deputy District Judge Liam McStay said that there was no explanation for why Robinson was in the vehicle.
He said he would grant bail but warned the defendant he had used his one opportunity.
Robinson will appear again on December 8.
