Health workers in Altnagelvin Hospital are 'are ready to fight for pay parity'.
Derry City and Strabane District councillor Shaun Harkin (PBP) has said health workers in Altnagelvin Hospital and across the Western Health and Social Care Trust are "are ready to fight for pay parity".
Cllr Harkin added: "It is insulting and unacceptable for the Health Minister and the entire Stormont Executive to once again let down our healthcare workers and patients.
"Is there no embarrassment for government MLAs demanding massive increases in their £50,000+ salaries, while health and social care workers struggle with inflation?
"Pay parity with NHS colleagues is a bare minimum but it has once again been broken. Healthcare workers are past platitudes and pats on the back of the head commending the great work they do. If nurses and all health and social care workers decide on an all-out strike, it is entirely the fault and responsibility of the Stormont Executive.
"The Stormont Executive has been put on notice. I urge everyone to back our healthcare workers. Stormont's stealth privatisation of the health service must end. Workers must be paid what they are owed. Patient care, not profits, should be the priority."
