The property was badly damaged in the attack.
Three people have appeared in Coleraine Magistrate's Court sitting in Ballymena charged with the arson of a flat in Limavady.
Padraig Brolly (24) of Rathbrady Road in Limavady was charged with arson of a property in Drumahoe Park in the town with intent to endanger life on July 14.
He was also charged with possessing cocaine, Diazepam and Pregablin on the same date as well as a charge of burglary on the same date.
Dylan Banks (25) of Claremont House in Derry was charged with arson of the same property with intent to endanger life on July 14.
He was further charged with the burglary of the premises on the same date.
Amy McIvor (18) of Glenroe Walk in Limavady was also charged arson with intent to endanger life and burglary of the same premises on July 14.
A police officer connected the accused to the charges.
The court heard that there was CCTV footage that purported to show the three defendants approaching the property and a short time later flames could be seen.
Banks did not make a bail application and the defendant Brolly was refused bail.
McIvor was granted bail.
All three will appear again next month.
